Art Imitates Life...Flamenco Style...Ole!

When my mom was visiting last summer, we went to see flamenco at Corral de la Moreria.  We had a lot of fun listening to the music and watching the dancers, and I was able to get some pretty good pics.  My friend, Irina, who only took up painting since she moved to Madrid four years ago, saw some of my shots, and she asked to use them in her painting class.  I was completely honored that she would find them interesting enough to paint.  She loved the intensity in the the woman's face and wanted to try to capture the movement in the photo.  Here is her finished product!  Isn't it amazing????  I think she did a wonderful job!  Can you believe she hadn't picked up a brush before fours years ago?  I am in awe of her talent.  She has a painting she did of an old woman that could be in any gallery, as far as I'm concerned.  She recently moved to the States and I hope she puts together a show one day!  I once told her that I was so happy to hear that she couldn't sing because with her brains, her beauty, and her newly discovered talent for painting...if she could sing too, that would be the final straw...we couldn't be friends!  I miss you, Irina...and all our talks over "nespressos."  Buena suerte, mi amiga y hasta pronto!
